Kiwanis Club of TV became involved with the Terrific Kids Program 14 years ago. We serve three schools: Highland Park Elementary, Philadelphia Elementary and Lenoir City Intermediate School with approximately 250 students participating.
Terrific Kids program is intended to teach fourth graders good citizenship by promoting: Character development, Positive self-esteem and Perseverance. “Terrific” is an acronym. It represents: Thoughtful, enthusiastic, respectful, responsible, inclusive, friendly, Inquisitive and capable.
The program stresses the importance of good, sound and consistent cornerstones for the life of the students. • Using the Golden Rule as a guiding principle. • Becoming the best person you can be in all aspects of your life. • Don’t give into your fears.
Students work with their classroom teacher and Kiwanians to establish goals to improve behavior, peer relationships, attendance or school work.
