Tellico Village Kiwanis Club Trout in The Classroom Project. The Trout release event at Loudon North Middle School on Friday, April 24th, was a memorable occasion for the students and the local environment alike. This hands-on educational experience allowed fifty eager students to actively participate in the release of 122 Rainbow Trout fingerlings into the Tellico River, just downstream of the scenic Bald River Falls. These trout were nurtured from eggs provided by the hatchery back in September 2025, highlighting the students' commitment and patience in raising these fish to a viable size for release. Kiwanian Ken Holt and teacher Joey Breedlove worked together to create a memorable experience for students. Each student was given the opportunity to personally release a fish into the water, a symbolic gesture encouraging environmental stewardship and the appreciation of local ecosystems. As Ken Holt distributed the fish, Joey Breedlove guided the students safely into the water, ensuring each child had a chance to connect with nature in a meaningful way. After the trout release, some of the boys tried their luck at catching the result of a previous year’s release. ... See MoreSee Less
